Costas Galaktiou, son of Michalis Galaktiou and Elegka Kazinieri. He was born in Kyrenia on January 31st 1913. He was accidentally killed by friendly fire coming from the armed teams of EDEK at Prophet Elias on April 25th 1964, during a scheduled attack against the fortress of Agios Ilarionas. Costas left behind his wife Maria Christodoulou Alexandrou from the village of Fteriha and his three children, Yiannakis, Demetrakis, who was a missing person until 2007, and Panayiota. The city honoured him by naming one of the piers at the port after him.
