Mayor Message
Dear Fellow Citizens,
I would like to express my gratitude for trusting me and honoring me with your vote. I assure you that I will do everything within my powers to justify your choice in me and live up to your trust placed in me.
All my efforts will focus mainly on our fight to return to our beloved city. All Kyrenians demand that we return to our houses and properties and be able to live there safely without the presence of enemy troops, settlers, guarantees, fear and uncertainty.
We demand that our human rights be respected as these are recorded in the United Nations’ Declaration of Human Rights, International and European Law. We demand that the Principles of Freedom, Democracy and Justice be implemented in the case of the Kyrenian people as well.
At the same time, we will show interest in the citizens of Kyrenia, who, 43 years after the invasion, are scattered in all parts of the free areas of Cyprus facing all kinds of problems created by them being forced to abandon their homes, the recent economic crisis and even their daily routine.
The Municipality, always acting within its powers, jurisdiction and limited financial resources, will continue to support the people of Kyrenia and contribute to their prosperity.
Together, united we shall move ahead.
Rita Elisseou Komodiki
