Demetrakis Galaktiou, son of Costas Galaktiou, who had fallen during the bi-communal unrest of 1964, and Maria Christodoulou Alexandrou. At the age of 24, he was a navy reservist, single and worked in Kyrenia. He was last seen on July 23rd 1974 in Kazafani. He was murdered in cold-blood by the Turkish army. He remains were discovered in a mass grave in Kazafani and he was identified using the DNA method. Demetrakis Galaktiou was buried at the military cemetery of Tymvos on August 8th 2007.
