Petros Patsalides, son of Yiannis Patsalides and Iouliani Panagi, was born in Kyrenia on August 21st 1900. He joined the Greek army as a volunteer during World War I. During World War II, he joined the Cypriot Regiment and served in Macedonia. He was arrested by the Germans in Athens and imprisoned at a prisoners’ of war camp in Korinthos. Later, he was transferred at a forced labour camp in Prague, where he was murdered by the Nazi on March 30th 1942. With his death he left behind his wife Pelagia Savva Hadjinicolaou Kokkinou, his two sons Savvas and Andreas, who were also volunteers at the Cypriot Regiment, as well as his four daughters, Ioulia, Ellie, Theodora and Maroula.
