Civil Marriages

Marriage between Cypriots, Cypriots – Foreign Nationals or Foreign Nationals – Foreign Nationals.

Applicants are required to submit the following certificates and information:

CYPRIOT CITIZENS:

1. Identification Card.
2. Affidavit issued by a Court of Law.
3. Marriage Non-Impediment Certificate issued by the Marriages Registrar.
   The Court Affidavit must be presented at the Marriage Register of the Ministry of Interior for a Marriage Non-Impediment Certificate to be issued.
4. Divorce
   In case of divorced applicants, they must submit their divorce certificates (not earlier than 45 days after the divorce has been issued and a family court must certify that the divorce is both finalized and irrevocable).
5. Widowhood Certificate.
   In case of widowhood, the relevant death certificate must be submitted.
6. Thalassemıa Blood Test Results.

FOREIGN NATIONALS:

1. Passport.
2. Birth Certificate.
   It must be translated either in Greek or in English.
3. Alien Registration Certificate.
4. Permanent Residence Permit (Pink Slip).
5. Affidavit issued by a Court of Law.
6. Marriage Non-Impediment Certificate issued by the Marriages Registrar.
   The Court Affidavit must be presented at the Marriage Register of the Ministry of Interior for a Marriage Non-Impediment Certificate to be issued.
7. Marriage Non-Impediment Certificate issued by the competent authority of the applicant’s country of origin.
   The certificate must be translated either in Greek or in English.
8. Divorce.
   In the case of divorced applicants, the divorce certificate must be submitted. It must be translated either in Greek or in English.
9. Widowhood Certificate.
   In case of widowhood, the relevant death certificate must be submitted. It must also be translated either in Greek or in English.

All certificates must be original.

Under no circumstances are copies of the certificates accepted. By submitting a Marriage notification with the Municipality, applicants must pay for the rights as these are specified by the Law:
